With more of us choosing to stay active at home, the concept of a personal gym or fitness studio has become incredibly popular. No more battling for machines at the gym, waiting for the perfect time slot, or commuting across town. Having a dedicated workout space right in the comfort of our homes is a great way to maintain a consistent approach to health and wellness. And what's not to love? A home gym gives us total control over the workout environment, flexibility with time, and the freedom to fully personalise the space!

From serious runners to casual yoga enthusiasts, fitness is a unique journey that looks different for everyone. We all have different preferences for workout times, favourite types of exercise, and even what we like to wear when we work out. It’s about finding what works best for you

Recently, we caught up with a special client - TV Presenter, Podcaster and Property Expert Laura Hamilton (A Place in the Sun and Dancing on Ice).  Known for her passion for fitness, we get the lowdown on how she tackles her workouts at home.

Q&A with Laura Hamilton

Q1: What’s the hardest, most gruelling workout you’ve ever done?

"I think the hardest workout I’ve ever done was when I ran the London Marathon this year! The training schedule was tough, but thankfully, having a home gym was a massive help. I struggled to get out for long runs, so I had to rely on my treadmill. I know it’s not quite the same as running outside, but it did the job, and I managed to complete the marathon while raising lots of money for Wellchild, the charity I ran for."

Q2: What’s the best thing about having a proper space to exercise at home?

"As a busy working mum, having a workout space at home is a game-changer. It gives me complete flexibility around the children. They can be fast asleep upstairs while I’m working out downstairs. I can exercise whenever it suits me—even if it’s just for a quick 20 minutes. And let’s be honest, it doesn’t take me long to get there since it’s just set up in my garage!"

Q3: Pick a colour for gym leggings and tell us why?

"Leopard print! My stylist says it’s in this season, and after working out, I’m always ‘feline’ great! Ha ha!"

Q4: What are your go-to tunes for intense workouts?

"I’ve got eclectic taste when it comes to music, but in the gym, I love tracks by Calvin Harris and David Guetta. They keep me pumped up and ready to push through any workout!"

So, if you’re thinking about creating a home workout space, take a page out of Laura’s book. From the flexibility of squeezing in a workout around family life to the joy of working out in leopard print and getting your daily fix on some top tunes, a home gym gives you the freedom to stay fit on your terms.
