Richard McKay is a seasoned expert in the flooring industry, currently serving as the Managing Director of Sprung Gym Flooring, one of the largest fitness flooring suppliers in the UK.
Richard’s foray into the digital world began in 2008 with the creation of Tweetabix, a blog dedicated to interviewing early adopters of Twitter. He featured prominent figures such as Will Carling, David Meerman Scott, Grant Shapps MP, Shel Israel, and Jemima Kiss, offering insights into the burgeoning social media landscape.
In 2010, Richard launched Floorcrunch, a microblog focused on the flooring industry, and became a minor contributor to Ann Handley’s influential book, Content Rules. His expertise was further recognised when he contributed to the third edition of Social Media Marketing All-in-One for Dummies in 2015.
Richard has also been an active blogger and online presence in the flooring world. From 2011 to 2020, he owned and operated McKay Flooring sharing industry insights and project updates. He continues to run www.sportsflooring.co.uk (new launch coming soon), and currently manages www.gym-flooring.com, where he shares inspiration and knowledge of current gym design, sports innovation and fitness products with excellent buying guides and technical content.
