Create a gym floor that performs under pressure without settling for a completely plain black finish. Fleckz gym flooring combines the resilience, grip and impact protection of commercial-grade rubber with coloured flecks that bring more depth and character to a training space.

Suitable for home gyms, PT studios, strength areas and commercial fitness facilities, the Fleckz range includes both rubber rolls and self-locking tiles. This allows you to choose a format that suits the size of the room, the way it will be used and the finish you want to achieve.

Whether you are introducing a subtle grey detail, coordinating flooring with a brand colour or creating clearly defined training zones, Fleckz provides a practical alternative to standard rubber gym flooring.

What Is Fleckz Gym Flooring?

Fleckz flooring is made from durable rubber with contrasting coloured granules distributed through the surface. The flecks soften the appearance of the black base and help disguise dust, light scuffs and everyday marks more effectively than a completely uniform floor.

The result is a professional-looking surface that remains suitable for demanding fitness environments. It can support gym machines, benches, racks and regular foot traffic while providing a more comfortable and stable surface for strength work, functional exercise and group training.

Colour choices can also serve a practical purpose. A commercial gym might coordinate the floor with its branding, while a multi-use facility can use contrasting finishes to distinguish between cardio, free-weight and functional areas. In a compact room, grey or brighter flecks can break up a dark floor and make the overall interior feel less enclosed.

For a wider choice of decorative finishes, our coloured gym flooring includes additional tile, roll and designer options.

Fleckz Rubber Rolls for Larger Fitness Areas

Fleckz gym rubber matting rolls are particularly well suited to larger rooms where a smooth, continuous appearance is important.

Each roll measures 10 metres long by 1.25 metres wide, covering 12.5m². With fewer joins than a tiled installation, rolls can create a clean commercial finish across cardio areas, group exercise studios, walkways and open-plan fitness zones.

They are available in 6mm, 8mm and 10mm thicknesses, as well as several coloured fleck options. This makes them a versatile choice for:

  • Cardio machines and resistance equipment
  • Functional training and circuit areas
  • Group exercise studios
  • General fitness zones
  • Light to medium free-weight use
  • Commercial gym walkways and circulation spaces

Rubber rolls can be cut to accommodate corners, pillars and irregular room shapes. They work best over a firm, dry and level subfloor and are normally adhered in larger or permanently fitted commercial areas.

For facilities where colour is not required, Jet Black rubber flooring rolls provide a simpler, understated finish.

Konnecta Fleckz Self-Locking Gym Tiles

For easier installation, greater flexibility and more substantial impact protection, Konnecta Fleckz self-locking fitness tiles offer a premium 20mm tiled solution.

The tiles use concealed connectors underneath the floor. This holds adjacent sections together without leaving a traditional puzzle edge visible across the surface. Once installed, the floor has the appearance of straight-edged tiles while benefiting from the stability of an interlocking system.

At 20mm thick, Konnecta Fleckz is better suited than thinner rubber rolls to mixed-use strength areas, functional workouts and spaces where weights may be handled regularly. The tiles can also be lifted individually if access to the subfloor is needed or if a damaged section has to be replaced.

Matching ramps can be used around exposed edges to produce a neater transition and reduce the trip between the gym flooring and the surrounding surface.

Should You Choose Fleckz Rolls or Tiles?

The right format depends primarily on the room and the type of training taking place.

Rubber rolls are usually the better option for large, open areas where lower-impact training, cardio equipment or group exercise will be the main activities. Their thinner profile works well beneath fixed equipment, and the reduced number of seams creates a streamlined appearance.

Konnecta Fleckz tiles are more suitable where you want straightforward modular installation, additional cushioning or the freedom to replace and relocate sections. They are a strong option for home gyms, PT studios and mixed strength-and-conditioning areas.

Tiles also tend to be more manageable for DIY projects. Individual sections are easier to move than a full roll, particularly when access is restricted by stairs, narrow hallways or domestic doorways.

Our guide to rubber gym tiles provides further options for heavier lifting areas and different impact requirements.

Choosing the Right Fleckz Flooring Thickness

Thickness should be chosen according to impact rather than appearance alone.

A 6mm Fleckz roll works well for cardio machines, spin bikes, resistance equipment and light general exercise. It creates a durable protective layer without adding excessive floor height.

An 8mm roll provides slightly more comfort and resilience for busy studios, circuit training and multi-purpose fitness areas. It is a useful middle-ground option where both equipment and floor-based exercise take place.

A 10mm roll offers the greatest protection within the Fleckz roll range and is better suited to regular functional training or light to medium weights.

The 20mm Konnecta tile provides more cushioning for strength training and mixed-use gym areas. However, no 20mm floor should be treated as suitable for unrestricted heavy barbell dropping. Olympic lifting, repeated deadlifts and very heavy dumbbell use may require thicker heavy-duty gym flooring, depending on the maximum load and the condition of the subfloor.

Fleckz Flooring for Home and Garage Gyms

Fleckz can transform a spare room or garage into a more comfortable, clearly defined training area. Rubber creates a stable surface beneath benches, racks and machines while helping protect concrete, timber or existing finishes from equipment movement and everyday wear.

For a spare room or indoor home gym floor, consider the height of doors, skirting boards and adjoining surfaces before selecting the thickness. Rolls provide a lower-profile finish, while 20mm tiles provide additional cushioning for strength-based workouts.

In a garage gym, the concrete must be level, clean and dry before installation. Rubber flooring is moisture resistant, but it should not be used to conceal an active damp problem. Any water ingress or condensation issue should be resolved first.

Where heavy equipment will remain in one position, ensure its feet or weight are spread evenly. Protective pads can be added beneath unusually narrow contact points.

Commercial Gyms and Branded Training Spaces

Appearance becomes especially important in customer-facing fitness facilities. Fleckz allows a gym to introduce brand colours without using a solid, highly decorative floor that may overwhelm the room.

Different fleck colours can define functional zones, guide members through the facility or complement wall graphics and equipment upholstery. The speckled finish is also forgiving in high-traffic areas because minor dust and surface marks are less noticeable.

For large commercial gym flooring projects, rolls can cover cardio and studio areas efficiently, while thicker tiles can be introduced in strength zones. Using each surface according to its intended activity provides better protection than specifying one thickness throughout the entire facility.

Installation and Subfloor Preparation

Fleckz flooring should be installed over a stable, smooth and dry base. Concrete, screed and suitable timber substrates can all work, provided they are flat and free from loose material.

Rubber rolls should be unrolled and allowed to relax before fitting. Larger sections are heavy, so handling and positioning them is normally a two-person job. Permanent installations should use a compatible rubber flooring adhesive, particularly in busy commercial areas.

Konnecta tiles can often be loose-laid within a contained room because the hidden connectors keep the floor together. Perimeter cuts should be measured carefully, leaving the appropriate expansion allowance recommended for the installation.

Cleaning and Maintaining Fleckz Rubber Flooring

Regular vacuuming or sweeping prevents grit from accumulating and wearing the surface. For a more thorough clean, use a damp mop with a diluted pH-neutral detergent.

Avoid soaking the floor or using bleach, solvents, highly alkaline chemicals or abrasive cleaning equipment. Spillages should be wiped up promptly, particularly around drinks stations and entrances.

With the right thickness, careful subfloor preparation and routine cleaning, Fleckz flooring provides a hard-wearing foundation that combines dependable gym performance with a more distinctive, design-led finish.
